Please Help Little Lyla

We are completely overwhelmed by everyone’s support for Lyla. Something very special happened today and it’s come from the heart of Karl Schmidt from the Valley Raceway. He will be holding a fundraising event called Racing for Lyla. When I saw this I was in tears. We can’t thank you enough, this means the world to us, and there will always be a special place in our hearts for everyone that is involved on this day. Racing for Lyla.

Lyla is my niece. At 4 months of age, Lyla was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called peroxisomal disorder. Lyla is terminal. I would love to raise funds for Lyla and my brother Kieran and sister-in-law Bec. Bec is already raising funds for the Starlight foundation but I wanted to raise funds just for them. Lyla has a very hard road ahead, she spends more time at appointments in hospitals then what she does at home. With Lyla’s disorder she suffers from partial hearing loss, she has already had an operation to open up her tubes to help her breathe and swallow, Lyla may in the future end up losing her sight and eventually, her organs will start to shut down. This will end her life.

I would love to raise enough funds so Lyla has everything she needs and so my brother can spend precious time with her and not worry about bills, rent and food on the table for my other two nieces. We take time with our children for granted I think when they are healthy, my brother works 6 – 7 days a week and he needs time with Lyla while she is here with us. A simple cold/flu will put Lyla in the hospital for a week as her immune system is very poor and my brother can’t take time off to be with her. Giving him that piece of mind will make me feel like I am helping out by setting up this fund. Having a child in your family that is terminal makes you feel helpless as there is nothing we can do to help her. I thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone that donates or even just reads Lyla’s story.
