Funds for Care packages for the Homeless this Christmas
This will be the 3rd consecutive year that the #12daysforcharity will be running. The 12 Days for charity aim is to do two things, Firstly provide a Backpack containing essentials to the Homeless on Christmas Morning and secondly to allow the community to get involved hands-on with the packing and the distributing on the backpacks.
With our first year in 2014 packaging 50 Backpacks for the homeless with 2 of us, in 2015 we Packed just under 1000 Backpacks for the homeless across south-east QLD ranging from Hervey Bay to Byron Bay with over 30 volunteers and in 2016 the aim is 2500 Backpacks Across Southeast QLD and also Sydney Suburbs with the Support of Brett and Sarah Whipp of B Whipp Fit.
All funds raised will go directly towards supplying and filling the backpacks with essentials like Tooth Paste, Tooth Brush, Soap, Packaged food and Water.
This year due to the larger size of backpacks and stock we will be fundraising until the end of November allowing us enough time to get all of the stock to both locations and package the bags before Christmas.
We understand how easy it is for someone to tip over to the point of homelessness, with many families and individuals living on the edge financially it, unfortunately, has become more and more common. A lot of the people we have met over the years just didn’t have any family to support them. We had one storey shared with us where a guy had re-mortgaged his house to support his wife through Chemo, unfortunately, she passed away and he lost everything and ended up being forced to live in a shelter. There are countless stories of this nature.
