Born with CMV

Before Sophie was born she was diagnosed with congenital cytomegalovirus CMV. Since she has been born she has been diagnosed with microcephaly, micrognathia, gdd (global developmental delay) which affects every domain of her development. Sophie attends therapy sessions weekly. There will be many tests and assessments to come. We are raising money to help our family with ensuring Sophie gets all the help she needs not just medically but also in everyday life.

What is Congenital cytomegalovirus CMV
CMV is a viral infection that a baby gets from their mother during pregnancy. CMV is quite common and usually harmless to healthy adults, but it can cause serious problems for unborn babies if their mothers contract it for the first time during pregnancy. Babies with CMV may have hearing or vision problems, developmental delays, or other health issues. Prevention is key, and pregnant women can reduce the risk of passing CMV to their babies by good hygiene, like washing their hands, especially after changing diapers or coming into contact with bodily fluids.

We are asking for help from our community to get support for Sophie, who was born with CMV. Sophie’s condition has led to challenges such as microcephaly, micrognathia, and global developmental delay, impacting every aspect of her growth and learning. Despite her obstacles, Sophie attends therapy weekly, but there are many more tests and assessments ahead. Her family are committed to providing her with the necessary medical and everyday support she needs. However, the financial burden is taking it’s toll. We are humbly asking for your assistance in raising funds to ensure Sophie gets all the care and resources essential for her well-being and development. Your generosity will make a significant difference in Sophie’s life, helping her thrive and reach her full potential.
