Homeless Children’s Christmas

This season let’s open our hearts to homeless people. More than 8,000 children are homeless and it means no home and no food even during the Christmas Season. Homeless children sleep in unsafe environments like the parks, under bridges or city sidewalks. It strongly affects their health, development, education and morale.

Sleeping on Cardboards

Anglicare Southern Queensland challenged high school students to spend a night at the Cathedral sleeping only on a bed of cardboard to help them understand the situation Homeless kids experience when deprived of their own home. Many students from The Southport School, All Saint’s Anglican School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, Anglican Church Grammar College and Toowoomba Anglican College and Preparatory School participated and ditched their comfortable beds. Before going to sleep, the students were entertained with board games and movies. The students raised $16,000 in participating for the cause.

Anglicare provides crisis accommodation to Homeless youth across Southern Queensland. They also run Homelessness Supportive Accommodation Services for Homeless women and children, ensuring that children of all ages are supported during times of need.

Christmas is the hardest season for Homeless children. Donate to Anglicare, when you give a gift through their Christmas Appeal, you’re helping to ensure that they can provide the care, support and some much-needed Christmas cheer to every child supported by Anglicare. We believe everyone deserves a place to call home.
