“It all starts with a welcome, a meal, a relationship…”
This May Reduce Home Loans is supporting homeless people in our communities who are the most vulnerable.
The Sacred Heart Mission is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping the homeless rebuild their lives. The charity offers year-round assistance through community fundraising, meal donations and personal volunteer support.
During May the Sacred Heart Mission holds the Dine With Heart event, where community members are invited to share meals and build relationships with the disadvantaged.
How can you help?
You can donate your pre-loved clothing, furniture and bric-a-brac items to Sacred Heart Mission op-shops. The charity’s shops are run by volunteers and all funds raised go toward their cause.
Donations of long-lasting food items are also welcomed by the charity, to help prepare meals for homeless seeking the most basic of needs. Here are the most basic items the Sacred Heart Mission always needs:
- Tea bags – black, green and herbal
- Plain and self-raising flour
- Rice (white long grain preferred)
- Peanut butter and honey
- Cereal – muesli
- Tinned tomatoes
- Tomato paste
- Chicken, beef or vegetable stock
- Dishwashing liquid and washing up gloves
- Laundry detergent
